Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party Telangana Forum convener Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Sunday stated that the party Legislators would follow the Congress example and submit resignations to their elected posts on Monday in order to create a Constitutional crisis and achieve Telangana state.
Talking to media persons at Telugu Desam Legislature Party office, Mr Dayakar Rao said that, “Telangana can only be achieved by resignations and creating a Constitutional crisis.”
“We will be submitting our resignations for the cause of state formation and not with an eye on the by-elections,” he pointed out.
The TTDP Forum convenor also urged the Congress MLAs to honour their stated promise of resigning.
“Once the Congress Legislators from Telangana submit their resignations, the TDP MLAs from the region too would follow them and resort to resigning en masse,” Mr Dayakar Rao stated.
He added that before submitting their resignations, the Forum members would proceed to the Telangana Martyrs Memorial at Gun Park and pay rich floral tributes to those who laid down their lives for the cause of Telangana.
Later, the Forum members would meet at TDLP office and proceed to Speaker Chamber at 12 in the afternoon where they would submit their resignations.
Denying the charge that the Telugu Desam Party was against formation of separate Telangana state, Mr Dayakar Rao said that the party had already stated its support for the separate state by mentioning Telangana in its election manifesto long ago.
He said that all parties should unite and put in collective efforts for the cause of Telangana statehood.(INN)
