Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party Floor Leader in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Singi Reddy Srinivas Reddy on Sunday submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, seeking a discussion on the imposition of ban on plastic carry bags from July 1 in the GHMC limits in the Corporation meeting.

After submitting a memorandum to Chief Minister, Mr Singi Reddy stated that the approval of Corporation was required for implementing the ban on plastics, wherein all the Corporators, local MLAs, MPs, and MLCs will participate and express their views and valuable suggestions feasible to impose the ban.

He took strong objection to the Mayor’s imposing the ban on usage/production of plastics abruptly without adequate publicizing.

Mr Srinivas Reddy said the ban on plastics is being imposed without creating awareness in the society and without obtaining suggestions and objections of the all political parties.

The TDP leader said the sudden imposition of ban on plastics would throw entrepreneurs and workers, who are living on such industries, into streets and affect their livelihood.

Before imposing the ban on plastics, Mr Singi Reddy said that GHMC has to show some alternative to the workers of such industry.

He appealed to the Chief Minister to intervene into the matter and issue instructions to GHMC to lift immediately the ban on plastics and discuss thoroughly over the issue with concerned parties to find an alternative solution.(INN)
