The misuse of the Internet touches new heights every day. A software engineer from Bellary, employed in a firm in Bengaluru, recently created a fake email ID of his wife and sent her naked photos to her friends and colleagues, and uploaded them on a website in order to defame her and extort money.
The man, Nanda Kumar Jai, 38, had married the victim even though he was already married in London when he was studying there and has a child. When the victim found out about this and sought a divorce, he started harassing her by sending out intimate photos, taken when they were living together, and demanding money. Crime Investigation Department officials have arrested him and confirmed that he was already married to another woman.
“The victim sought a divorce after she found out about the previous marriage. However, the accused threatened her and started sending obscene emails to her friends and colleagues from a fake email ID,” said T. Krishna Prasad the additional director-general of police, CID.
The victim, from Guntur, now working as a software engineer in Chicago, lodged a complaint with the CID last year. For some months, she had sent the money, but when she stopped doing so, Nanda Kumar created a fake email ID in her name and started sending her photos, CID officials said.
A team of CID officials hunted him down after booking a case against him under the IT Act and relevant Sections of the IPC.
