Hyderabad: Rejecting the media reports claiming that they were contemplating to float a new political party, the resigned Telangana Congress elected representatives have made it clear that without compromising on the Telangana demand they would mount pressure on the party high command and the government for conceding separate State by continuing in the party. They also warned that they would give a boycott call against the media if it continues to telecast and publish false news in future.
Speaking to media persons after a three-hour long meeting at the Exhibition Grounds on Monday, the Nalgonda MP, Mr Gutha Sukhender Reddy, said the Telangana Congress elected representatives have submitted resignations en masse demanding separate Telangana state. The Centre and the party high command have only two options — either they concede separate State demand or accept their resignations immediately, he added. Appealing to the media not to telecast or publish imaginary stories at this juncture, he said that they would work with any like-minded organization or party if the Centre accepted their resignations without conceding their demand.
The Union Petroleum Minister, Mr S Jaipal Reddy, would act as a mediator between the Centre and the resigned elected representatives, he said, adding that the former would discuss with the party high priests and the Centre on the Telangana issue on their behalf. He also made it clear that Telangana public representatives had tendered resignations sincerely and they would not take back their resignations at the instance of others. “The people elected us as their representatives and we will act according to their wishes. We will not take back our resignations succumbing to pressure tactics”, he clarified.
