New Delhi: Congress Legislators will meet party In-Charge of Andhra Pradesh Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad again on Wednesday, this time armed with a PowerPoint presentation, highlighting a speech of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in the state Assembly in which the late leader had said that the party has no objections to the formation a separate Telangana state.
The Legislators’ will hope to convince Mr Azad about their stand of “nothing less than Telangana will satisfy us,” by making the PowerPoint presentation.
They had earlier on Tuesday asked to back their version with evidence by Mr Azad during their meeting with the High Command’s representative. Mr Azad is believed to have sought clarifications and a copy of the speech delivered by Dr YSR on the Floor of the House on February 12, 2009, from the Telangana Congress Steering Committee members, including Ministers, MPs and MLAs who met him.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Raja Sabha Member K Kesava Rao said that the Legislators from Telangana voiced their strong protest against the decision of Speaker Nadendla Manohar to reject the resignations of all MLAs from the region during their meeting. Mr Manohar had rejected the resignations of all the MLAs saying that their decision to resign was taken ‘in an emotionally surcharged atmosphere.’
“We made it clear to Mr Azad that nothing short of a Telangana state is acceptable to us,” KK revealed.(INN)
