Hyderabad/Nalgonda: Minister for Infrastructure, Investment and Ports Komatireddy Venkatreddy on Monday stated that the Telangana Congress leaders are pinning their hopes on the Congress Core Committee’s crucial meeting on June 15, to get a concrete assurance on the separate Telangana statehood demand.
Mr Venkatreddy told media persons in Nalgonda that the Telangana Congress leaders are looking at the Congress Core Committee meeting with hope as it would be one of the last opportunities for the Centre to make a favourable announcement.
If the Core Committee does not make a favourable announcement, the pressure on the Congress leaders from Telangana would be unbearable, he said.
Meanwhile, MP G Vivek told media persons at his residence that a delegation of Congress MPs would appeal to the Congress Core Committee to stand by the December 9, 2009 statement of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Telangana.
Mr Vivek said that the Congress MPs had brought to the Prime Minister’s notice the sentiments and aspirations of Telangana people during their meeting recently.
He said that the MPs are not in a position to visit their constituencies without a clear statement on Telangana from the Centre.
Mr Vivek added that the Telangana Congress MPs would appeal to party’s Core Committee to stand by the December 9, 2009 statement.
“If the Congress Core Committee does not announce a favourable decision, the MPS would be forced to take some serious decisions, including resigning from our posts” Mr Vivek stated.
Besides, the MP appealed to Union Petroleum Minister S Jaipal Reddy to make his stand clear on Telangana. “At least now, Mr Jaipal Reddy should make his stand clear on Telangana,” he stated.
In Nalgonda, Mr Venkatreddy said that after the outcome of Core Committee meeting, the Telangana Congress leaders will decide their future course of action plan.
He added that the leaders are ready sacrifice anything for the cause of Telangana. “We are not ruling out submitting our resignations from our posts,” the Minster said.(INN)
