Hyderabad: Telangana Political Joint Action Committee convener M Kodandaram on Wednesday called for a ‘Rasta Roko’ on National highways to condole the death of Yadireddy, who committed suicide over the separate statehood demand in New Delhi earlier in the day.
Talking to media persons, Prof Kodandaram condemned the suicides by students for the cause separate statehood and advised them not to resort to such extreme steps due to frustration.
He asked the government to open its eyes and take an early decision on the statehood demand and fulfil the aspirations of the people of the region.
Expressing his sympathies to Yadireddy’s family, Prof Kodandaram advised the student leaders not lose hope and resort to suicides.
Earlier, the TPJAC chief hoisted a ‘Telangana’ board at Dharoor mandal in Ranga Reddy district. The board replaced the words ‘Andhra Pradesh’ with the name ‘Telangana’.
Prof Kodandaram also called upon all leaders to change the boards wherever ‘Andhra Pradesh’ is written to ‘Telangana’.
The TPJAC chief also asked the Telangana Congress leaders to set a deadline for Centre to accept the resignations of elected representatives submitted on July 4.
