Hyderabad: Telangana lawyers were arrested by the police when they tried to obstruct the District Judges’ examination held here on Sunday. Demanding that the examination be postponed till separate Telangana State was formed, the protesting lawyers tore off the hall tickets and squatted on the road.
They alleged that the Telangana region did not get the 42 per cent of judges’ posts due to it. They also raised slogans against the government.
The police, who imposed prohibitory orders as a precautionary measure, halted the lawyers who were trying to barge into the examination centre in the Exhibition Grounds in Nampalli. When the lawyers did not heed to their advice to leave the place, they arrested the lawyers. The Hyderabad City Police Commissioner, Mr A K Khan, supervised the bandobust arrangements at the Exhibition Grounds. (NSS)
