Telangana leaders happy over omission of 14 F

Hyderabad: Thanking the AICC Chief, the President, the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and the Chief Minister for the deletion of 14(F) Clause of Presidential Order, 1975, the Congress leaders, particularly from the Telangana region, expressed happiness over the omission of the controversial clause.

Speaking to the mediat at Gandhi Bhavan here on Friday, the PCC Chief, Mr Botcha Satyanarayana, thanked the AICC Chief, Ms Sonia Gandhi, the President, Ms Prathibha Patil, the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, and the Union Home Minister, Mr P Chidambaram, for the deletion of 14(F) Clause. He said that it was the victory of the Congress government.

Meanwhile, the Karimnagar MP, Mr Ponnam Prabhakar, told mediapersons at the CLP office that the Seemandhra people had wrong notion on 14(F) Clause and it was not correct to make political criticism on the deletion of 14(F) Clause at this juncture. He said the Seemandhra leaders should know that Hyderabad was part of Sixth Zone. He advised the Seemandhra leaders not to create confusion in the minds of Seemandhra people without knowing about the 14(F) Clause.

The Telangana Congress Steering Committee official spokesperson, Mr Gandra Venkataramana Reddy, has said that the deletion of 14(F) Clause was a united victory of all. He said the Assembly had passed a unanimous resolution for removal of 14(F) Clause on March 18, 2008. He said there was no need for Seemandhra people to have doubts on the deletion of the Clause.

Thanking the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, for making sincere efforts for removal of 14-F, Mr Gandra said every one has to cooperate with the government in the conduct of SI Recruitment Examination scheduled to be held on August 13 and 14. He also urged the Telangana leaders, including Telangana Political JAC Chairman, Prof. Kodandaram, to rethink on the demand to postpone the SI Examination.

Asked whether the State government would move a resolution in the Assembly on separate Telangana issue, Mr Gandra said the Chief Minister has to take an initiative on humanitarian grounds and help create separate Telangana State.

Responding to another question, Mr Gandra said the Telangana Congress Steering Committee will take a final decision on whether the ministers should participate in the Independence Day Celebrations or not. He felt that there was no mistake if one participated in the Independence Day celebrations.

Expressing happiness over the deletion of 14(F) Clause, the MLC Mr Rudraraju Padmaraju, thanked the Chief Minister, Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy. He also thanked Ms Sonia Gandhi and Congress Core Committee for giving directions in this regard. He said the candidates of Telangana region should appear for the SI Recruitment Test happily.

The Wardhannapet MLA, Mr Sridhar, was also present.
