Telangana leaders relent, leave for Delhi

Hyderabad: On the invitation of Congress General Secretary and In Charge of AP Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad, a group of Telangana leaders left for Delhi on Wednesday to meet Congress Core Committee members.

Headed by K Keshav Rao and K Jana Reddy, convenors of Telangana Steering Committee, the delegation consisted of Home Minister Sabita Indira Reddy, Women and Child Welfare Minister Sunita Lakshma Reddy, Information Minister D K Aruna and Irrigation Minister Sudershan Reddy.

Before leaving for the National Capital, Mr Keshav Rao told media persons that, “the delegation is going to Delhi to have talks only on achieving Telangana. We will not withdraw our resignations till the demand for Telangana is acceded.”

Mr Keshav Rao added that, “while on one hand the Telangana people are protesting against gross injustices with them, the Government headed by Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy is setting up educational institutions like Sainik School etc in Seemandhra areas.”

The senior MP further said that the Steering Committee members would reach Delhi on Thursday.

He added that though the Telangana leaders had earlier said that they would not have any talks with the centre unless Mr Azad withdraws his remarks made during his China visit. “However, on insistence of the Centre, we are going to New Delhi with the hope of having positive talks,” Mr Kesava Rao said.(INN)
