Hyderabad: The Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Thursday severely condemned the allegation of the Telangana MPs that their telephones were being tapped by the State government.
Speaking to mediapersons here, the Chief Minister asserted that telephones of Telangana MPs were never tapped. He also made it clear that the State government had sent some police officials to Delhi on the specific request of the Delhi police for additional security to the people’s representatives.
Pointing out that it was a routine practice that the State government dispatches police to Delhi whenever they requisition for it for additional security, the Chief Minister said that it was unreasonable for the Telangana MPs to allege that the police from State were being sent to Delhi for surveillance on them. He also clarified that invariably the telephones of terrorists and anti-social and anti-national elements are tapped to know about their nefarious activities.
It may be mentioned here that the MPs of Telangana region on Wednesday expressed displeasure saying that the State government had kept surveillance on their activities and tapping their telephones. Responding to the charge, the Chief Minister gave the explanation. (NSS)
