Telangana Rashtra Samiti Vidyarthi Vibhagam ( TRSV) state president Balki Suman, an accused in several cases of violence related to the Telangana agitation, was picked up by Task Force investigators here on Monday. Later in the day, he was handed over to the Central Crime Station (CCS) police, who are investigating these cases.
Suman, 29, a Ph D Scholar of Osmania University and a native of Metpally in Karimnagar district has been named an accused in 18 cases registered at various police stations in the city in the last one-and-half years. All these cases are currently being probed by the CCS.
He was arrested by Task Force and CCS teams in a joint operation on Monday under crime number 68/2011 U/s 147, 148, 427, 435, 332, 333, 188, 120(b) r/w 149 IPC and section 3 & 4 of prevention of public property damage act, 1984 and 7 (1) of the Criminal Law (amendment) Act, 1952 for unlawful assembly registered at the CCS
, DCP J satyanarayana said.
Out of the 18 cases registered against Suman, four were booked in connection with damaging statues on Tank Bund during the ‘Million March,’ attacking police personnel, damaging police and media vehicles. Ten more cases were booked against him in connection with violence in and around OU. Four more cases were booked against him at other city police stations including Punjagutta where he allegedly assaulted additional transport commissioner during Sakala Janula Samme.
As Suman had been evading police dragnet for a long time, a special team kept a watch on his movements. He reportedly managed to escape from the special team in Warangal recently, but they finally managed to nab him from a location in the
city. ., where he took shelter. He was arrested by the CCS in the night and would be produced before court on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, M Krishanak, spokesperson, OU-JAC was booked by OU police under IPC 307 and was remanded in judicial custody till December 12. Krishnak was picked up on October 27 while he was trying to hold a protest rally in support of the ‘T’ state at the 10K run event.TOI
