Hyderabad: The former minister and Congress MLA from Suryapet, Mr R Damodar Reddy, on Sunday warned that there would be no security to the settlers in the region if the Seemandhra leaders failed to stop making provocative statements forthwith.
The senior Congress leader from Telangana has taken a serious exception to the remarks of the Minor Irrigation Minister, Mr T. G. Venkatesh, that a private army “Seemandhra Sena” should be formed for protection of the settlers in the Telangana region.
Demanding that the Seemandhra leaders refrain from making provocative statements, Mr Reddy said the discussions at the recent Vijayawada convention of the Seemandhra leaders clearly proved that there was no unanimity over the need for integrated State among the people as contended by the elected representatives of that region.
Meanwhile, the Karimnagar MP, Mr Ponnam Prabhakar, has demanded that the Centre either begin the process of carving out Telangana State immediately or accept the resignations submitted by the party MPs of the region.
Speaking to mediapersons in Karimnagar, Mr Prabhakar said the resigned Congress leaders meeting called on Monday would decide future course of action on the Telangana demand. He also demanded immediate dismissal of the Minor Irrigation Minister, Mr T G Venkatesh, from the State cabinet for making anti-national remarks. He also condemned the behaviour of the former MP from Khammam, Ms Renuka Chowdary.
