The first burglary was reported at Veena repairer N Ravi Varma’s house in Baghlingampally. Ravi Varma along with his family members went to Basara on Saturday morning. The incident came to light on Sunday when a family member of Varma’s who did not go with the others due to some work, returned to the house.
“Ravi Varma’s main door lock was broken and burglars forcibly opened the cupboard and stole 10 tolas of gold, 40 tolas of silver and some cash,” Chikkadpally inspector (crime) K Subbirami Reddy said.
In another case, burglars broke into the house of a businessman, Syed Shafiuddin Khan, at Gopal Nagar in Moula Ali on Saturday night and escaped with Rs 5 lakh worth property.
On Saturday evening, Shafiuddin along with his family went to attend the marriage of a relative. After attending the wedding, the family returned home at 3.30 am on Sunday and found the rear door latch broken. “Burglars entered the house by breaking the rear door’s lock and stole 12 tolas of gold, Rs 1.5 lakh cash and some silver ornaments by opening the cupboard using the key available nearby,” Malkajgiri inspector LC Naik said.
Based on separate complaints lodged by the victims, police have registered a night burglary case under sections 457/380 of the Indian Penal Code
