Hyderabad: Stating that corruption and scams which have taken place under the United Progressive Alliance rule are obstructing the progress and development of nation, Bharatiya Janata Party state unit president G Kishen Reddy on Sunday called on the people to raise their voice on the lines of civil activists Anna Hazare.
Talking to media persons a darshan of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala in the wee hours, Mr Kishen Reddy exhorted people to ensure that the country’s image is saved from becoming irreparably damaged by the corruption prevalent under the UPA government.
“The people must raise their voice against the rampant corruption on the lines of Anna Hazare. They must give moral support to Hazare ji,” Mr Kishen Reddy said.
He added that he had prayed to Lord Venkateswara to give the people strength to rise and fight against the rampant corruption.
“The country’s image has been dented due to the rampant corruption. I have prayed to the Lord to give the people strength to rise against the government,” the BJP leader stated.
“Corruption is rampant since the UPA government has failed to govern,” he stated, adding “The country’s image has taken a drubbing at international level due to scam tainted UPA government’s failure to take proper steps to check corruption.”
Responding to questions on the Telangana issue, Mr Kishen Reddy said that the political parties should stand by the promises they had made to the people of the region and fulfil their aspirations.
He reiterated the BJP’s stand regarding a separate Telangana and assured that all the party’s MPs would vote in favour any Bill on separate state if Centre introduces it in Parliament.(INN)
