TRS, Cong activists cross swords over metro train project

Hyderabad: The proposed Hyderabad Metro Rail Project has ignited unrest and ill-feelings between the political parties. The “Metro Rail inferno” has led to clashes between the activists of the ruling party and the separatist Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

Enraged over the senior TRS leader, Mr Nayani Narasimha Reddy’s caustic remarks against the Hyderabad Ministers, Mr Danam Nagender and Mr M Mukesh Goud, the Congress activists went in a procession and attempted to burn an effigy of the former. Meanwhile, the TRS workers rushed to the spot and tried to frustrate the attempt of the Congress men.

With this, heated arguments ensued between the TRS and Congress workers. They pushed each other resulting in jostling and a melee. They also went to the extent of exchanging blows. However, the police intervened and brought the situation under control.

It may be mentioned here that while the TRS chief, Mr K Chandrasekhara Rao, recently warned that they would not keep silent if the Metro Rail Project was executed, the Hyderabad ministers, Mr Nagender and Mr Mukesh Goud, retaliated saying that they would not remain silent spectators if the TRS leaders obstructed the Rail project.
