Hyderabad, Feb.22 (NSS): Reiterating its demand on Telangana issue, the TRSLP has made it clear that it would not allow the House to run till the Centre introduced a Bill. Condemning the police attacks on students and journalists in Osmania University, it also warned the State government that it would have to pay heavy price if it continued the attitude in future.
Speaking at the Assembly media point here on Tuesday, along with the party MLAs, Mr K T Ramarao, Mr Koppula Eshwar, the TRSLP leader, Mr Etela Rajender, said that the government was following a bad practice by allowing the fees reimbursement issue for a discussion instead of allowing moving a resolution on Telangana issue as per the demand of members.
Mr Rajender said that the police were severely beating the students, who participated in ‘Chalo Assembly’ programme, and making arrests. He said that the police intensified their act on students and journalists on Tuesday when both organized a peace rally in the University condemning police action on Monday during the ‘Chalo Assembly’ programme.
Mr Rajender wondered why a discussion on fee reimbursement was taken up in the House when the Supreme Court clearly directed the State to release the funds before July 15. “No Opposition party is against the fee reimbursement scheme and when everybody was demanding release of funds what was the need to discuss the issue”, he added.
The TRS associate member, Mr Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, said that the question of Opposition parties not participating in the debate on motion of thanks to Governor’s address does not arise as the Opposition parties did not recognize the Governor’s speech as it failed to mention the Telangana issue.
