Hyderabad: The TRS on Sunday decided to postpone the party’s 10th anniversary celebrations scheduled to be held on April 27 by two days.
This decision was taken after party president K Chandrasekhar Rao had an informal meeting with senior party leaders following the demise of Sathya Saibaba and the announcement of a four-day mourning by chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. The TRS will now hold the celebrations on April 29 at Mahbubnagar.
The TRS proposal to celebrate the 10th Foundation Day of the party has been facing several hurdles from day one. The party wanted to hold a massive public meeting at Parade Grounds but the state police refused permission claiming that it could result in law and order problem as it happened during the ‘Million March’. Despite KCR’s personal request to Union defence minister A K Antony, the defence ministry turned down the request as TRS could not get police clearance.
The TRS then decided to hold a small meeting with over 20,000 party activists and leaders at Mahbubnagar. The state mourning has now forced it to postpone it by another two days. TOI
