Hyderabad: Cautioning the students of Osmania University not to violate Supreme Courts orders, City Police Commissioner said that the proposed mass indefinite hunger strike (Telangana Vidhyarthi Samuhika Amara Nirahara Deksha) called by the Telangana Student Joint Action Committee for July 11 is not is illegal since Section 144 is in place.
Pointing out that as per the Supreme Court orders in connection with Osmania University Directives No III, no outsiders (except for Osmania University students, teaching and non teaching staff) are allowed to conduct any meetings or any other programmes inside the campus of the University.
The Chalo Art College call, given by the TSJAC for Monday is in violation of the Supreme Court’s orders, Mr Khan said.
He further pointed out that no official permission has been granted by the competent authorities for the rally, nor the organizers of the programme have applied for any such permission.
Mr Khan also reminded that prohibitory orders under section 144 Cr PC are under promulgation in the limits of Hyderabad City Police Commissionerate. This means that any unlawful assembly of five or more persons is illegal.
“Supreme Court directives are rigorously enforced. If anyone indulges in illegal activities, they will be dealt with legally,” the city police chief said.
He added that the students from Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana region who are planning to join the proposed Mass Indefinite Strike programme should take the note of this fact.(INN)
