Hyderabad: The Telangana Students Joint Action Committee on Wednesday announced that it has postponed its earlier call of a Telangana bandh from August 5 to August 8.
The bandh call was in protest against conducting of Sub-Inspectors recruitment examination by the state government without deleting Clause 14 F from the Presidential Orders.
Students JAC convener G Kishore made the announcement regarding the postponement of the bandh date after discussions with Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Chairman M Kodandaram at state Bharatiya Janata Party Office in Nampally.
Mr Kishore said that the round-table conference scheduled to be held on August 4 to discuss the controversial clause would now be held on August 5 with all-party leaders.
He said the students JAC leaders would meet Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on August 6 and submit a memorandum demanding postponement of SIs Recruitment Examination till the deletion of Clause 14 F from the Presidential Orders.
“If the Chief Minister does not take a favourable decision and goes ahead with SIs recruitment examination, the Students JAC members would go ahead with their Telangana bandh on August 8,” Mr Kishore said.
“The government should not conduct the examination without deleting the Clause 14 F from the Presidential Order of 1975. If he (the Chief Minister) still wants to go ahead with it, Telangana will witness another shut down on August 8,” he warned.
He appealed to all sections of society to support the bandh on August 8.(INN)
