Hyderabad: The Hyderabad district Collector, Mr Natarajan Gulzar, has directed the officials to mobilize couples for the mass wedding ceremony “Kalayanamasthu” to be held under the aegis of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams on May 20.
Addressing a meeting in the Collectorate in this connection, Mr Gulzar cautioned the staff against the couples who may register for the ceremony despite having already been married. He also said that a special Kalyanamasthu meeting would be held in the TTD Kalayanamandapam at Himayathnagar on April 28 at 5.30 pm and urged all the officials to attend it.
Couples who tie the knot in the mass weddings will be given new clothes, free Cellar Darshan in Tirumala temple, two golden Talibottus and silver toe rings. Wedding feast will be organized for 60 members from families on both sides.
Couples that have completed the legal marriageable age of 18 years for bride and 21 years for bride groom should apply before May 9, along with an affidavit containing parents’ consent and ration card or electoral identity card, a press note stated. (NSS)
