New Delhi: Demanding that the Centre stop resorting to delaying tactics on the separate statehood demand and introduce a Bill in Parliament, Telugu Desam Party Telangana Forum leaders on Thursday staged a dharna at the Jantar Mantar here.
Addressing the gathering of TDP Legislators and supporters, Telangana Forum convenor Errabelli Dayakar Rao said that the time for talks has passed, and the only way forwards would be for the Centre to introduce a separate Telangana Bill in the Parliament.
The Congress High Command has presently undertaken a consultation process with party leaders of all the three regions of the state presenting their points of view to the party’s Andhra Pradesh In-Charge Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Mr Dayakar Rao said that the delaying tactics adopted by the Congress was testing the people and their patience was beginning to wear thin.
“The Centre must stand by its promise made on December 9, 2009 through Union Home Minister P Chidambaram. The Telangana Bill must be introduced in the Monsoon Session itself,” the TDP leader said.
Refuting the charges laid by the Congress, Mr Dayakar Rao said that his party’s stand on the issue has been clear and sustained. “We have made our stand clear a long time ago and it is for the Congress to make its stand clear and take a decision,” he said.(INN)
