Hyderabad: The Minister for Minor Irrigation and Lift Irrigation, Mr T G Venkatesh on Wednesday said that he was ready to immediately setup the statue of TRS Chief Mr K Chandrasekhara Rao (KCR) in Kurnool, if the latter supports United Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to the media after paying homage at Potti Sriramulu Statute in front of the Secretariat on the occasion of birth anniversary of the late leader, Mr Venkatesh said that he would setup KCR statute not only in Kurnool, but also in Hyderabad if the TRS leader gave up the slogan of Telangana statehood and support United Andhra Pradesh. He also faulted the desecration of statues of Telugu personalities by Telangana activists. If Telangana state was carved out, the demand of separate state for each district would come up, he added.

He said that the statues of the Telugu personalities, which were vandalized by the Telangana activists, should be immediately reinstalled on Tank Bund. He praised that Potti Sriramulu fought for Telugu people who were facing hardship in Madras State. Due to his hunger strike and life sacrifice, Andhra State was formed, he added. (NSS)
