Hyderabad: The PCC Chief Mr D Srinivas has made it clear that the Agriculture Minister Mr YS Vivekananda Reddy was the real heir of late Dr YSR’s political career.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Thursday, Mr Srinivas said that Mr Vivekananda Reddy supported to the hilt his brother Dr YSR till the latter’s death. Asking the Dr YSR’s family members as to who they were to challenge the Congress on owning Dr YSR, he said that Dr YSR was a public man. He said that using YSR’s photo by Mr YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was wrong because Dr YSR continued in the Congress party till his last breath. Making it clear that the Congress party would own Dr YSR, Mr Srinivas said that the party never said anything against Dr YSR.
Describing the Kadapa and Pulivendula by-elections as routine elections, Mr Srinivas said that participating in election campaign was not new to the ministers. The ministers even participated in Telangana by-elections and nobody made it an issue. He said that the ministers were not voting machines to vote in favour of Congress candidates. He stated that the ministers would not indulge in misusing the power.
Referring to Health Minister Dr DL Ravindra Reddy, the PCC Chief said that whether to resign to minister post depends on a person and there were no hard and fast rules on it.
Mr Srinivas said that he had no differences with the Chief Minister and added that the selection of candidates for the Kadapa by-elections was done depending on the opinion of local leaders and party cadre.
He said that the Badwel MLA Ms Kamalamma was a Congress party MLA and there was no question of her coming back to party, as mentioned in a section of the media. He said that disciplinary action would be initiated against the MLAs who were campaigning to other party candidates, according to party procedure. He said that the Chief Minister would participate in the Kadapa by-election and he too would take part in the campaign along with the party affairs state in charge Mr Gulam Nabi Azad. He said that there was a chance of the PRP Chief Mr Chiranjeevi taking part in the Kadapa by-election campaign.(NSS)
