Hyderabad: Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana on Wednesday gave way to his emotions and shed tears when asked to comment on the allegations leveled against him over his involvement in the Volkswagen scam.
Interacting with media persons during a ‘Meet the Press’ programme organized by the AP Working Journalists Union at the Basheer Bagh Press Club, Mr Satyanarayana said that though he was exonerated of his role in the scam, the entire episode left him ‘deeply hurt’. “My mother consoled me and gave me the confidence to move forward in my political career, he said.
He further said that the happiest day of his political career, indeed his life, was the day when All India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi told him that he was selected to lead the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh.
“I will live up to the expectations. I will serve the party and protect its interests through my entire life as a loyal worker,” Mr Satyanarayana said.
He added that he would endeavor to bring back the past glory of the party by acting in coordination with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
However, Mr Satyanarayana regretted that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy did not followed the principles of social justice and failed to give proper representation to Backward and Minority communities during expansion of his Cabinet.
“I see no difference between the two posts,” he said, adding “one is higher and one is lower but in my eyes, both are equal.”
“Both are valuable posts in the state and we can serve more with the posts. With PCC chief’s post I can attempt to regain the past glory of the party,” Mr Satyanarayana stated.
He reiterated that the party would make complete efforts towards filling nominated posts with loyal workers.
“The party will reward loyal workers with nominated posts soon and utilize their services further,” he stated.
Responding to questions on the preparations of the party for Local Body elections, the PCC chief said that the party would use `selective and elective method’ in choosing candidates.(INN)
