The 10 Telangana MPs who declared that they would stay from Parliament until the Telangana bill is tabled were evasive on the question of forcing Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar into accepting their resignations. MP Rajaiah answering a query said, “We will not ask her to do anything on the issue of our resignations. She knows what to do.”

During the course of his briefing Union home minister P. Chidambaram said, “I am confident that the issue would be sorted out as the general secretary incharge of Andhra is engaged in hectic consultations.”

Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson Mr Manish Tewari called on the MPs to observe restraint. Briefing reporters in the national capital, he said, “All stake holders including our colleagues should keep patience and continue to engage themselves with the government on one of the most delicate issues.” He added, “Nothing should be done to precipitate the matters.” In another related development, five tribal MLAs from Andhra Pradesh led by Chanda Lingaiah Dura called on President Pratibha Patil and submitted a memorandum demanding a separate state for tribals of the state comprising nine districts ranging from Srikakulam to Hyderabad with Bhadrac-halam as the capital.
