Hyderabad: Stating that Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLAs would submit their resignations from their elected posts once again on Monday to Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka or Assembly Secretary Raja Sadaram, TRS MLA K Taraka Rama Rao on Sunday said that the Telangana leaders would seek legal opinion and possibly approach the High Court if their resignations are rejected a second time.
He also accused Speaker Nadendla Manohar of acting in favour of Seemandhra leaders by rejecting the resignations submitted on July 4 and 5.
Promising that the Telangana leaders would seek legal opinion on the Speaker’s decision, KT Rama Rao further called on Telangana Ministers to meet Governor ESL Narasimhan and press for the acceptance of their resignations.
Talking to media persons at his residence, KT Rama Rao slammed Mr Manohar’s decision and termed it `unilateral.’ “Mr Manohar has shown discrimination against the Telangana Legislators and acted in favour of Seemandhra leaders. We will submit our resignations again on Monday,” the TRS MLA said.
“If the Speaker rejects the resignations a second time, the Telangana representatives would move a petition in the High Court,” KTR promised.
It may be recalled Speaker Nadendla Manohar had rejected all resignations of Telangana leaders late on Saturday evening, stating that the Legislators had done so in an ‘emotionally-surcharged atmosphere.’
As many as 101 MLAs from Telangana submitted their resignations on July 3 demanding a separate state. The process of resignations began with suspended TDP MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy, along with three other rebel TDP MLAs putting in their papers on July 3.
On July 4, 33 TDP MLAs and around 37 Congress MLAs too submitted their resignations. The TRS Legislators submitted their resignations the next day.(INN)
