Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam Party president, Mr Nara Chandrababu Naidu, on Tuesday lashed out at the YSR Congress Party chief and Kadapa MP, Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, saying that the latter was a branch of the poisonous Congress tree.
Speaking to mediapersons at his party headquarters “NTR Trust Bhavan” here, the former chief minister alleged that late chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had looted the State through corrupt practices during his tenure and passed on the ill-gotten money to his son. He also pointed out that Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy had revealed his true colours by saying that he was not against any political party at the national level barring Bharatiya Janata Party.
Stating that his party’s crusade against corruption under late YSR regime was not new, the former chief minister pointed out that they were exposing the corrupt practices of late YSR even when he was alive. He also alleged that those who had immensely benefited by the government during late YSR tenure, had invested handsome amounts in the companies floated by Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy overnight.
Bemoaning that the plight of farmers in the State was indescribable, Mr Naidu said the toiling farmers were not getting even minimum support price for their produce during the Congress government which claims to be farmer-friendly and their condition of the farmers has become so hopeless that they were constrained to announce crop holiday.
Alleging that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government was neglecting the farmers, he said farming has become a Herculean task because of the erratic policies of the government. Mr Naidu also alleged that the prices of essential commodities were skyrocketing since the Congress-led UPA government wrested power at the Centre. Corruption also increased to the unprecedented level, he added.
