Information and Public Relations Minister D K Aruna here on Wednesday described former chief minister late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy was a very staunch Congress leader, who rose to become a chief minister due to the party.
Speaking to the media after participating in Raghuveera Reddy’s “Bhageeratha Vijaya Yatra” here, Aruna said Dr YSR was a Congress leader till his last breath. She said that the Congress always strives for welfare of the poor and have-nots and the chief minister, whoever it may be, spares no efforts to translate the party policy into reality. She said the Congress leaders belonging to the Seemandhra and Telangana regions were working for the development of their respective regions. Alleging that some Congress leaders were leaving the party for selfish ends, she said the ruling party would not be affected by their desertions.
Speaking on the occasion, Raghuveera Reddy said that he took up Bhageeratha Yatra only to instill confidence among the farmers as the Handri-Neeva project was launched. He said that future generations would be benefited in a big way with the project. He also said that the youths have to concentrate on agriculture. (NSS)
