Senior BJP leader L.K. Advani on Sunday alleged Congress and DMK were “partners in corruption”, and said the two parties, which had joined hands in both the State and at the Centre, “should be defeated”. “In my political life from 1952, I have not seen a corruption as huge as the 2G spectrum scandal”, Advani said at a campaign meeting here.
“The people of Tamil Nadu should understand that Congress and the DMK are partners in corruption”, the former Deputy Prime Minister said.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who initially said he was not aware of the 2G spectrum scandal, then said it was coalition dharma that had forced him remain silent, he alleged.
The Prime Minister thought that the debate on the subject would “die down with the arrest of the former Union Minister A Raja, but the BJP would demand a full probe into the scam”, he said.
The 2G spectrum scam had come to light after Opposition parties pressed the government to submit the CAG report, following which the Supreme Court took up the case, he said. Now the government had set up a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe also, Advani said.
A poll victory for BJP in Tamil Nadu, where the party is going it alone, would help them press the Central government more aggressively for retrieval of all the black money hoarded in foreign banks and use it for development, he said.
The retrieved money could be used for providing good schools, uninterrupted power and drinking water in all the villages of the country, Advani said.
He assured the gathering that the acute drinking water scarcity in the district would be solved if BJP candidates were elected.
Advani said he was confident his party would win in Nagercoil and a few other places. Asian Age
