According to an official at the Indian Meteorological Department in New Delhi, the quake’s magnitude was 5.7, and it struck at 5:02 p.m. local time Monday. The official described the quake’s intensity as “medium” and said its focal depth was 10 kilometers. It struck close to the India-Nepal border.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake registered 5.4 and struck approximately 363 kilometers (226 miles) from New Delhi, India’s capital. Agencies
