Anna seeks appointment with Maya

Social activist Anna Hazare now wants to meet Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati to seek her support for the draft of the Lokpal bill.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister secretary Navneet Sehgal told a news agency that Ms Mayawati has yet to take a decision on this.

Anna Hazare wanted to meet Ms Mayawati urgently in order to seek her opinion before the next meeting of the draft committee on the Lokpal bill.

Anna Hazare has already met senior Bhartiya Janata Party leader L.K. Advani, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav And Rashtriya Lok Dal president Ajit Singh in this regard.

Mr Hazare also met UPA chairperson and Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday.

Ms Mayawati, on her part, has already said that the Lokpal bill should be left to the people who will decide the issue in the next Lok Sabha elections. Asian Age
