The special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Court on Friday remanded an accused in police custody for allegedly providing the weapon used for killing senior crime reporter J Dey till July 28.

Deepak Sisodia, who had allegedly given the .32 mm US-made revolver to alleged Chotta Rajan aide Satish Kalya near Nainital was arrested by the Nainital police.

Dey (56), working with the city-based English tabloid Mid Day, was shot dead by four motorcycle-borne assailants in suburban Powai on June 11.

Police had claimed that the journalist was eliminated at the behest of gangster Chhota Rajan, who paid Rs 5 lakh to the accused. However, they said the motive behind the killing was not yet clear.
Sisodia is the ninth accused to be arrested in the case.

The police had arrested seven persons on June 27: Rohee Thangappan Joseph alias Satish Kalya (34), Abhijeet Kasharam Shinde (28), Arun Janardan Dake (27), Sachin Suresh Gaikwad (27), Anil Bhanudas Waghmode (35), Nilesh Narayan Shedge alias Bablu (34) and Mangesh Damodar Agawane (25).

They later arrested Vinod Asrani alias Vinod Chembur, a bookie and builder, who is believed to be a close aide and financier of Chhota Rajan. Asian Age
