Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee Linguistic Minority Cell Chairman, Mr Ashok Singh, has appealed to the Congress High Command to induct the AICC general secretary and UPA Chairperson, Ms Sonia Gandhi’s son, Mr Rahul Gandhi, into the Union Cabinet.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Friday, Mr Ashok Singh said as Mr Rahul Gandhi was gaining rich experience by touring the country and knowing the people’s problems, the time was ripe for inducting him into the Union Cabinet. He wanted that the high command encourage young leadership and Mr Rahul Gandhi be made a Union minister so that the future of Congress party was safe. He felt that a brief stint as a Union minister would help him gain administrative experience and groomed as future Prime Minister.
Mr Singh said he wanted to see Mr Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister in 2014. He said that in the present circumstances when the Congress was passing through a tough time, Mr Rahul Gandhi’s presence would boost the morale of the party cadres. He said that the demand of Mr Digvijay Singh, AICC general secretary, was absolutely right and a majority of the party men hoped that Mr Rahul Gandhi would accept ministerial post shortly.
