Blast accused Swami Aseemanand on Friday told a city trial court that probe agencies made him confess under duress, and that he was innocent.

Aseemanand, cited by probe agaencies as a key plotter behind several blasts across the country, also filed a revision application, which comes up before the court on Saturday.

“I am innocent and have done nothing wrong. They (probe agencies) forced me to confess and now I am putting the facts before the court to get justice,” Aseemanand told reporters as he came out of the court.

“They are framing me in these blasts, but I had no role in them. They wanted to frame more people on my name,” he said.

In his petition before the district and sessions court, Aseemanand challenged the orders of the chief judicial magistrate extending the period of filing the chargesheet from 90 to 180 days.

Filing the application of revision in the court, Aseemanand’s counsel said the probe agencies had already completed the inquiry against his client and he is now in the judicial custody. “Extending the investigation is against the right of the accused,” the application said.

“He made the complaint in court saying the confessions he had made were forced by the CBI, and that he was mentally and physically disturbed to take the right decision,” a source said. “Now, I am recovering and want to prove my innocence,” a source quoted him as saying.

The chief judicial magistrate (CJM) extended Aseemanand’s judicial custody till April 30. The CJM also asked the National Investigation Agency to file a chargesheet against Mukesh Vasani, another Ajmer dargah blast accused, on or before April 28, the date on which 90 days of his arrest will be complete.

Earlier, the court had accepted Aseemanand’s application in which he asked the court to strike off his name from the list of approvers in the blast case.

The Rajasthan ATS arrested Aseemanand on January 22, 2011 on a production warrant in the 2007 dargha blast case. Earlier on January 15, the Panchkula court recorded his statement in connection with the Samjhauta Express blast near Panipat in February 2007. He is also an accused in the Mecca Masjid blast in Hyderabad. The CBI had arrested him on November 19, 2010 from Varanasi. TOI
