NO BAIL for Kanimozhi, will spend Diwali in jail

The special court hearing the 2G case on Monday reserved the bail order for the 17 accused in the case, including Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam Member of Parliament Kanimozhi, till November 3.

The other high profile accused in the case include film producer Karim Morani, Kaliagnar TV Managing Director Sharad Kumar, DB Reality and Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa, former telecom minister A Raja’s secretary R K Chandolia and former telecom secretary Siddhartha Behura.

The court will decide on November 3 the fresh bail petitions moved by Kanimozhi and four other accused on Monday in the 2G case after the Central Bureau of Investigation did not object to their plea.

Two days after charges were framed against them, Special CBI Judge O P Saini reserved his order on the bail petitions of Kanimozhi, Kalaignar TV Managing Director Sharad Kumar, Directors of Kusegaon Fruits & Vegetables Asif Balwa, Rajiv Agarwal and Bollywood producer Karim Morani.

During arguments, Special Public Prosecutor U U Lalit, appearing for the CBI, said that the agency had no objection if they were granted bail by the court.
