New Delhi, Feb 05 (IANS) A second-year Bachelor of Arts student of Satyawati College in north Delhi was found hanging from a ceiling fan in one of the classrooms here Friday afternoon, police said.
The incident came to light at around 3.15 p.m. when a college employee found Amir Mallik, 21, hanging in a classroom in the college in Ashok Vihar.
“No suicide note was found from the deceased’s possession,” a senior police officer said.
Amir stayed in Sriram Colony in Kachchi Khazuri area with his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
The officer said that the deceased’s father, Nazir Ahmed Mallik, alleged that he was in a relation with a girl of his class who lives in Bharat Nagar area.
“Amir was killed by the girl’s brother,” alleged Nazir.
The officer said that 20 days ago, the deceased eloped with the girl and a case was registered after a complaint by the girl’s family.
“He was caught by Bharat Nagar police but after the girl’s statement he was released,” the officer added.
The body has been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of his death.
“Prima-facie it seems a clear cut suicide but until the post-mortem report nothing can be said,” the officer added.
School authorities said Amir was looking depressed Friday. “After the class was over one of the college employees went into the classroom to close the door and found the body hanging,” said a college official.
