New Delhi, Feb 5 (IANS) Six men who stole transformers and other equipment by posing as employees of a power distribution company were arrested from south Delhi, police said Saturday.
Those arrested have been identified as Santosh Sharma, Vipin, Dharamvir, Amar Singh, Parmod Kumar and Pappu.
“We got a tip-off on Thursday that a few people were ferrying a stolen transformer of BSES from Bandh Road at Sangam Vihar in a truck along with a crane. We laid a trap and arrested them. All of them posed as BSES officials,” a senior police officer said.
Singh was earlier a BSES contractor, while Pramod and Pappu had worked under BSES contractors.
“The crane and truck were used by BSES, and as a result, nobody suspected that anything was amiss. The men were on their way to Burari, where they intended to sell the transformer,” the police officer added.
