Kadapa, Feb.15 (NSS): Several prominent leaders of Praja Rajyam party, opposed to party’s merger with the ruling Congress party on Tuesday met the Telugu Desam party chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, who was touring the district.
The PRP leaders, Mr Khalil Pasha and Mr Brahmaiah were among the party leaders who met Mr Naidu and reportedly discussed with them the possibility of joining the TDP.
Several party leaders are irked by the decision taken by Mr Chiranjeevi as they criticized the Congress and its top leaders tooth and nail in the past. Now they find it impossible to work with the Congress and its leaders. In this context, the PRP leaders were looking for other alternatives. While some are trying to join the Jagan’s party, others want to get into the TDP.
According to the information, Mr Naidu invited both Mr Pasha and Mr Brahmaiah into his party. The East Godavari district PRP leader, Mr Jyothula Nehru has already decided to join the Jagan bandwagon. The Chittoor district PRP president, Mr Jangalapalli Srinivas, is also likely to join Jagan.
CHIRANJEEVI’S CINEMA IS OVER: NAIDU
Addressing the PRP leaders, Mr Naidu said that Mr Chiranjeevi’s cinema was over. He cryptically commented that the actor has merged his party in Congress for his personal social justice and not that of the people. He said that Mr Chiranjeevi, who embraced politics with the promise of establishing social justice has conveniently forgotten it and joined the corrupt Congress only for his personal benefit. He warned that the people were not innocent to believe his words and continue their support.
Reiterating that late chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had amassed crores through corruption, he said that his party would expose corrupt practices of every one and wage a relentless fight. Mr Naidu expressed his happiness that awareness among people against corruption was increasing. He said if people unite and fight against it like the people of Egypt, all the corrupt politicians would be washed away. He also alleged that the ruling Congress was trying to intimidate TDP leaders as the party was gaining strength. Alleging that illegal cases were being foisted against his party leaders, the TDP chief exuded confidence that his party would win both the Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly seats. He also alleged that the former MP, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s followers had connection with Maddelacheruvu Suri’s murderer Bhanu and were threatening people in his name. (NSS)
