President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in a recent telephone conversation, offered his condolences to Afghan President Hamid Karzai for the killing of his brother and called for cooperation to counter terrorism.

“The enemies (hegemonic powers) are not the least concerned with the welfare of the Afghans or any other nation; they only seek to harm regional countries,” said Ahmadinejad.

“Given this situation, regional countries and governments should thwart the enemies’ conspiracies by enhancing joint cooperation,” he added.

Ahmadinejad highlighted Iran’s ever-increasing ties and mutual cooperation with Afghanistan.

Karzai also appreciated the Iranian nation and government’s sympathies, saying the great Iranian nation has always supported the Afghan nation.

He expressed hope that Afghanistan will attain a stable security and an honorable life through Iran’s assistance
