British Prime Minister David Cameron has recalled Parliament from its summer recess to deal with the crisis touched off by three days of rioting in London.
Mr. Cameron described the scenes on streets of London and other areas as “sickening.”
However, he refrained from more extreme measures, such as calling in the military to help beleaguered police restore order.
He said 450 arrests had been made so far, and promised many more arrests if looting continued.
No plans to call in military: Police
Meanwhile, the acting Police Commissioner in London has said that there were no plans to call in the military to help beleaguered police restore order in London and other British cities hit by rioting.
Tim Godwin spoke after leaving an emergency meeting.
He also called on parents to keep their teenagers and children indoors as the capital braced for another day of unrest. Hindu
