A LIBYAN warplane has bombed an area near an ongoing clash between loyalists and opposition rebels, apparently to scare off anti-Gaddafi fighters.
The loud explosion on a beach near where the two sides were fighting at a university campus in the rebel-held eastern town of Brega sent a plume of smoke into the sky, reports said.
There were no casualties reported from the fighter jet’s blast but at least 10 people were killed when loyalists tried to retake Brega yesterday a spokesman for the opposition said.
Opposition rebels said they were surrounding regime fighters who were in the university area and at the gates of the Sirte oil company.
Plumes of smoke from shell fire and heavy machine gun fire rattled through Brega.Agencies
