Cairo/Tripoli, March 8 (DPA) Two top aides to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi have been placed under house arrest in the capital Tripoli, a source close to the government said Tuesday.

General Mustafa al-Kharubi, a member of Libya’s Revolution Command Council, and Defence Minister Abu Bakr Younis, were both under house arrest because ‘they rejected the operations taking place against people now’, said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Younis is among 26 people, including Gaddafi and his family, on which the European Union has imposed a travel ban and a freeze on assets.
