History & Context
Purani Haveli was built in 1770 and served as a royal residence of the Nizams. Unlike Chowmahalla, it reflects the residential side of Hyderabad’s ruling family.
The site is known for the famous long wardrobe associated with Mir Mahbub Ali Khan, the sixth Nizam, one of the most unusual royal artefacts in the city.
The haveli feels quieter than Charminar or Laad Bazaar, with courtyards, corridors and museum sections offering a slower look at royal life.
Visit it with Chowmahalla Palace and Salar Jung Museum to understand Hyderabad’s Nizam-era heritage beyond the famous public monuments.
